Democrats’ DOGE Dodge

The PAC Perspective by Ted Flint

Why are liberals so opposed to the work Elon Musk and DOGE is doing? One would think efforts to weed out, waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government, thereby saving taxpayers billions of dollars, would be a noble pursuit? Maybe it’s Trump Derangement Syndrome that’s driving the Left’s opposition. I think anyone trying to impede such efforts is part of the problem. Tech founder and investor David Sacks recently posted on X: “When democrats say D.O.G.E. is a threat to Democracy, what they really mean is that it is a threat to the bureaucracy.” The Left’s opposition to Musk’s efforts is driven not by whether Musk’s appointment is constitutional, but rather because they, liberals, are benefitting by that fraud.

The Democrat Party is the party of government. 92 percent of Washington D.C. voted for Kamala Harris. Democrats constitute a large majority of the federal bureaucracy, and they use that bureaucracy to bankroll aligned NGOs, media groups, and ultimately themselves. They want the bureaucracy immune from transparency and accountability. That is why they’re fighting Trump’s efforts to expose corruption because it often leads back to them.

Among some of the most egregious findings by the agency overseen by Musk: $4.7 trillion in untraceable payments at the U.S. Treasury Department. Untraceable? According to The Independent, that figure represents nearly 70 percent of total federal spending last year. The Daily Trigger provides a little perspective: “If you spent $500,000 EVERY SINGLE DAY, it would take 25,726 years to go through it.”

DOGE is also recovering taxpayer dollars squandered by the US Agency for International Development, (USAID), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). There have been reports of USAID employees with annual six-figure salaries being worth tens of millions of dollars.

For years we’ve heard the running joke about dead people voting. But did you know that the Social Security rolls are inflated with the names of millions of people deceased for decades. From@DOGE: from 120-129 years old, 3,472,000; from 130—139, 3,936,000; from 140-149, 3,542,000! The oldest living human being on record passed away at the age of 122. I didn’t know we had over 3.5 million Americans over age 140, did you?

And the fact that President Trump wants to refund the money to the people who provided it is what is really setting off the Left. Under the DOGE Dividend, taxpayers would receive 20 percent of the recouped funds, while 20 percent would be used to pay down the federal debt.

Cutting the Administrative State down to size will enhance the liberty of all Americans. For too long federal agencies such as the EPA, IRS, and CDC, have wielded undue influence over the lives of American citizens. The budgets of these alphabet agencies continue to grow at a pace that far exceeds the people’s ability to pay for them.

Democrats’ angst over DOGE is best summed up in a quote by the great Irish Playwright George Bernard Shaw: “A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.”
