Signs of the Times

Updated: Oct 17

The PAC Perspective by Ted Flint

It’s election time, or as some refer to it: “The Silly Season.” Lawn signs adorn the landscape as residents inform passerby of their preferences for political offices. I’m not sure if these signs tilt the outcome of a given race one way or another, but as a conservative, it is gratifying knowing the driver of every Subaru that goes by, winces when they see my Trump-Vance sign.

This season I’ve noticed some doozies. I think most of us have seen the “Kindness Matters” and "The We Believe….” messages of which progressives are so proud. But as with most liberal endeavors, the signs lack imagination and humor. But of course, they're not meant to be funny, because democrats want to convey how dire our situation is, how Trump is a "threat to democracy."

Several homes in our little Village with Harris-Walz signs also have signs that want you to know just how open minded and inclusive they are. Thus the “In This House We Believe: Love is Love, Black Lives Matter, Science is Real, Women’s Rights are Fundamental, No Person is Illegal, Disability Rights are Human Rights, Healthcare for All, Kindness is Everything" messages. I love that last one; “Kindness….” - even for Trumpers? Probably not so much.

I saw this one online: “Which Candidate is a Better Example for Your Child?” A not-so-subtle dig at Trump’s extramarital dalliances. I bet these same people pulled the lever twice for Bill Clinton. By the way, these folks should Google “Willie Brown.”

My favorite lawn sign, and one I haven’t seen before this season, is the directive to “Vote with Love.” Vote with love? What in the heck is that supposed to mean? I think it means vote for anyone other than Donald Trump. I plan to vote using deductive reasoning and logic. I am voting for the candidate who will fight for the rights of ALL Americans, for the unborn, who will tap into our unlimited natural gas and oil reserves, who will lower inflation, the cost of living, interest rates, crime in our major cities, and of course a candidate who will secure our borders.

If you oppose all these things, then you have the perfect candidate. But I intend to “Vote with Love” for Donald J. Trump.
