There is a major cultural shift underway in America. It is undeniable, unmistakable. For proof, one need look only at this year’s Super Bowl.
Donald Trump is the first sitting President ever to attend the Big Game. His presence could be felt even before the opening kickoff. Instead of being maligned, as they have been during the Obama-Biden years, America’s military and law enforcement were celebrated; there was a tribute to the victims of the New Orleans terrorist attacks; there was a patriotic feel to the festivities. Even Samuel L. Jackson, no supporter of Number 47, was dressed in an Uncle Sam costume as part of the halftime show. A marked change from past Super Bowls in which “Black Lives Matter” and “End Racism” slogans were fixtures. When the League decided to jettison the ‘end racism’ slogan from the endzones at NFL games, HBO Host Bill Maher’s observation was spot on: "If you're a racist and you see 'End Racism' in the endzone, you're going to stop being a racist?" Exactly. Instead of some players taking a knee during the national anthem, players had their hands over their hearts. We still had to endure a halftime show featuring Kendrick Lamar and be treated (for those of us who even watched it) to Serena Williams doing the “Crip walk" and inane commercials such as the instruction to “Stand Up to All Hate” featuring Snoop Dogg and Tom Brady. But overall, it was a family-friendly event.
Healing a Divided Nation
President Trump has promised to unify our country. A tall order considering the counterculture’s unrelenting attacks on tradition and morality. The Left has been attempting to make America indistinguishable from every other country. But we are not like any other nation; we are set apart by God. George Washington recognized the role of Christian faith in his 1789 Thanksgiving Proclamation, stating: “Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor…”
It feels as though our country has been living under a dark cloud over the past four plus years. But that oppressive feeling is beginning to lift. America is again respected on the world stage.
The President’s threats of a trade war with Canada and Mexico over those nations' lax border security is beginning to pay dividends. According to published reports, Google Maps has changed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. As this column goes to press, President Trump will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine. Marc Fogel, an American teacher, who has spent nearly four years in a Russian prison on drug smuggling charges, is a free man. The White House says the President’s advisors negotiated an exchange that serves as a show of good faith from the Russians and a sign we are moving in the right direction to end the war in Ukraine.
The new Administration’s attempts to tame Leviathan are being fought by entrenched forces in D.C. The US Agency for International Development (USAID) reportedly provided full funding to al Qaeda terrorist Anwar Al-Awlaki to attend college in Colorado. He was directly connected to the Fort Hood attacker who killed 13 people in 2009. USAID is supposed to be monitoring foreign aid programs, but it’s been bankrolling left-wing causes, such as promoting transgenderism in Guatemala and helping launch an Iraqi version of “Sesame Street.” If you think these are appropriate uses of your tax dollars, then donate your own money.
On the domestic front, Elon Musk and D.O.G.E. (The Department of Governmental Efficiency) have identified billions of dollars in waste, fraud and abuse and the left and their media handmaidens are apoplectic. How could any right-thinking individual oppose saving billions of taxpayer dollars? Former President Biden wanted to audit any transaction between Americans over $600, and some Americans were willing to re-elect him. D.O.G.E. seeks to save taxpayer money and liberals are unhinged.
The Left can cry and moan all it wants but the federal gravy train is about to end. What we need here in New York and in all 50 states, is a government watchdog group similar to D.O.G.E. that will shut off the spigot of taxpayer funds that support causes that clearly a majority of citizens oppose.
